Kris entered the real estate industry at just 21 in Tauranga’s competitive real estate market, Kris quickly made a name for himself. In 2007, he was awarded the prestigious Diamond Achievers Award in real estate sales, becoming one of the youngest sales person in New Zealand to receive the honor.

The story behind the name Orzel
Orzel means “Eagle” in Polish, a name that carries deep significance for Kris Brown and his family. More than just a brand, it’s a tribute to Kris’ late grandparents and father, whose legacy of hard work, craftsmanship, and family values continues through Orzel Property Management.
The family story began in the early 1950s when Kris’ grandparents, Cameron and Dorothy Brown, established Sherwood Pottery in Auckland’s Waitakere Ranges. Known for their detailed mugs, ashtrays, toby jugs, and figurines, their work became iconic examples of collectible Kiwiana.
In 1958, the Browns relocated their operation to Henderson, renaming it Titian Studio. As demand grew, they expanded the business, eventually establishing Titian Potteries (1965) Ltd and opening a larger factory in Takanini. By the early 1970s, the family moved the growing enterprise to Drury, where Orzel Industries was born.
Named after the Polish Eagle—an homage to Kris’ grandfather, who served in the Polish merchant navy during World War II—Orzel Industries flourished. With over 40 staff at its peak in the mid-1980s, the factory mass-produced terracotta kitchenware sold at major retailers like The Warehouse, Farmers, and Palmers Garden Centre. Kris’ father, Chris Brown, also played a vital role, running a side venture called Eagle Kilns, manufacturing kilns for potteries across New Zealand.
Though Orzel Industries eventually closed its doors, its impact on New Zealand ceramics remains significant, with many of its pieces now treasured collectibles.
Today, Kris honors this legacy through Orzel Property Management. The name is a constant reminder of his family’s dedication, craftsmanship, and integrity—values that Kris brings into his work, ensuring every property is managed with the same care and commitment that defined his family’s legacy.
